To make a flagstone patio filled with DG. (Decomposed Granite)

First you must remove the grass and level the ground as best as possible. Once you remove grass and level the dirt you cover with weed cloth. This helps prevent grass from growin up from under your rocks
This are the two different color of Flagstone. They come on a pallet. flagstone comes in a variety of colors. Choose one color or make it multi colored. Just what ever is pleasing to you.
You then lay sand down and by using a level you level out flagstone. If flagstone is high you take a rubber hammer and pound the flagstone into the sand so it is level with the other stones. You space stones a inch or two apart. It's like a big puzzle trying to find the stones to fit nicely together.

Once all your stones are in position you fill the cracks with DG. Once the DG is in the cracks you sweep away any excess DG if on the top of flagstone. You then lightly spray the DG with water from the garden house. The water firms up the D G holding the stones in place. DG is used instead of concrete for a variety of reasons. One reason is if you live in a drought area like I do, when it does rain you want the water to seep into the earth. If there was concrete it would not sink in as well. The second reason DG does firm up a bit but if you decide you want to change anything DG does come loose. You just have to break it up. Will turn granular. Nothing like concrete.

In a year or so you may have to fill the cracks up with DG.
